How to choose a dental professional:

Not only is your relationship with your dentist or orthodontist important, but his/her credentials as an accredited dental professional. Try to ensure that this person is registered with a recognised professional body, such as the American Dental Assocoation (ADA), or at least their state association such as the California Dental Association (CDA).

Being a member of such an association is no guarantee of the skill level, but does demonstrate a commitment to public oral health and adherence to the body's guidelines on ethics, science and professional advancement.

These professional associations also keep members informed about advances in dental science and techniques, law, heath and public safety, recommended dental products and provides instruction via journals and papers and opportunities for advancement via dental training courses.
